É uma das artistas mais bem sucedidas da Austrália. Jessica Mauboy é de Darwin, Austrália, com ascendência da parte da mãe de duas tribos indígenas, a Wakaman e a KuKu Yalanji, e com o país com origem timorense.
O seu percurso musical começa com a sua participação no Ídolos australiano, aos 16 anos. Desde aí que conseguiu cinco álbuns top 10, 15 top20 singles, quatro álbuns de platina e ganhou dois ARIA Music Awards depois de 24 nomeações.
Fez parte da atuação de intervalo na Eurovisão em Copenhaga e diz que foi aí que se apercebeu de como este concurso é brilhante.
