The meeting and the Hub

The first Sandbox Hub evaluation meeting was held March 28-29 in Media City Bergen (MCB). It aimed to strengthen cooperation between the various sandboxes, share best practices and set new goals.

The Sandbox Hub has created a European media innovation network to enable local startups and SMEs to scale their business more easily. Starting duties last year, he currently has 14 members.

Each member has its own startup and follow-up support methods, specific to each country and entity, but together they make this hub a unique project at European level.

Visit @ MCB

The group held its MCB Media Lab meeting at NCE Media but also visited other companies and startups present in this cluster, including TV 2 and the Center for Investigative Journalism at the University of Bergen.

The visit to TV2 was made by the responsible Kjetil Frugård who presented us with the innovation projects already implemented, such as the robotic cameras of Electric Friends.

Subsequently, Kristine Holmelid introduced us to the Center for Investigative Journalism. This center supports journalists to conduct large-volume research, using the best market trends, such as Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.

The visit also included the presentation of the accelerator Mediekuben belonging to Media City Bergen, where Eivind Sandstrand, Kristoffer Hammer and Sonia Pandher presented the method of operation, objectives and achieved goals.

In the end, we are still “pitched” with some startups incubated in Mediekuben, such as Electric Friends’ with their robotic cameras, Nurofy with an online marketing and advertising management solution, and Tenklabs with VR technology, which allows creating three-dimensional models in a very effective way.

Networking

And of course… any breaking moment was used to exchange experiences and networking.
